My jinx is gone or poor little dirty orange birds

~~ New York Yankees 7, Baltimore Orioles 3 ~~

Sunday, 9 April 2017

For quite awhile I have not been turning on a game to watch if it had already started. I’m not superstitious about baseball. Not at all.ย

It started with the Os, Em sent me a text saying the Yankees were winning so I turned on the game. Almost immediately the pitcher, (I think it was Hughes) gave up about 5 runs and the Yankees. And I was wearing orange socks. Fast forward to this season when Em sent me a text “Ur pretty!” I was confused, it’s not like her to tell me I’m pretty. It was cleared up with a following text, she was talking about “My Pretty” who had just scored the go ahead run against (once again), the Os. I took a chance and turned on the game, the first thing I see is a player tripping over the grass and bobbling a play. It was Chris Davis I think, and the Yankees took advantage and won the game, handing Baltimore their first loss and coming home with a 2-4 record.

No such thing as a sure thing in baseball

~~ Red Sox 7, Yankees 4 ~~

With Nova pitching versus Lackey, I was sure we’d win it. Then when the Yankees jumped ahead with 3 runs, I was doubly sure the Yankees would win. Even when they went ahead in the 7th, I was still sure Yanks would win, it was only one run and in the bottom of the 7th the Yankees tied it up. So no problem right? RIGHT?

Seven innings later that bad boy Jacoby hits a 3 run home run off Scott Proctor. I don’t know why he was pitching.

Once again there were bad calls against the Yankees. You would think they would get the edge since it is their stadium. Of course you never know if it affected the outcome of the game. It did affect Swisher’s numbers. What was cute was the last time, Swish was hot so Joe comes running out and Cano wraps his arm around Swish’s shoulder and drags him away. Couldn’t afford to lose a player, then Joe got thrown out.

Even though I really wanted the Yankees to sweep the Sox, (possibly out of the post season) Yankees are still number one. This Saturday will still be me and Kasey’s first trip to the post season. So I’m trying not to put too much energy into being angry about this.

Another double-header because of the stupid freaking rain!

~~ Yankees 6, Red Sox 2 ~~

The pitchers for the first game of this double-header are Wakefield for the Red Sox and A.J. Burnett for NYY. Someone shoot me now.

Gardner and Jeter bunted, both came around to score. Then in the third inning Jorge hits a two run home run, 4-0 Yankees. And the Rays are leading in their game. Since this won’t be posted until after the game and no one is here to read it, “Please don’t melt down, implode, fall apart, or anything else. OK AJ? Please hold it together for your devoted fan (I might be the only one left).”

Oh Captain! My captain. And no, I don’t think he did touch home plate. Until he reached back and tagged AFTER he was called safe. I almost feel sorry for Tim Wakefield, almost.

Hate Ellsbury, all three hits have come off Ellsbury. If it wasn’t for him AJ would have a no-hitter. I will hate him more if he’s gets MVP instead of a Yankee.

And with that hit Derek is now hitting 300 and the Yankees lead 6-2.

Guess Big Sloppy was tired of walking. AJ doesn’t usually melt down this late in the game does he? OH NICE PLAY! Good fielding by Laird and AJ, 3-6-1 double-play.

AJ pitched into the 8th, D-Rob came in to pitch to Ellsbury, who hit two home runs off AJ, and struck him out. Then D-Rob pitched a scoreless ninth saving Mo and Soriano for tonight’s game if needed.

Everybody can just stuff it now

~~ Yankees 5, Red Sox 2 ~~

For everyone who said CC couldn’t beat the Red Sox.

Of course, it was bound to happen, he wasn’t going to go all season and into the post-season without beating them, just like Lackey can’t go two starts without hitting a batter (yeah I went there). Now he has done it.

He also gave the Sox a taste of their own medicine: after the inning when Curtis was not hit-by-pitch, he hit Ellsbury, later in the game though Lackey got his hits batman, Cervelli. It came back to bite him when Cervelli scored. Matt Albers then hit Posada.

The hit-by-pitches were controversial in this game, in that in the first inning, Granderson was hit and the umpire said no, and in the 9th, the umpire said Saltalamacchia was hit by Mo when he swung, Joe was mad came running out and got thrown out. It didn’t matter, Mo just got the next batter out. End of ball game, Yankees win.

Boston versus New York ~ Tuesday, June 7, 2011

~~ Red Sox 6, Yankees 4 ~~

Words cannot describe how much I despise Jon Lester, I know since he is a Red Sox pitcher it goes without saying that I don’t like him, but my feelings go beyond that, I hate, loathe and despise him. Jon Lester is a thug, a bully, a jerk and ugly. Now that I’ve unburdened myself, he hit Mark on the knee (could have broken his kneecap!) in the first inning, putting him out of the game. In the same inning he hit Russell Martin. His ninth hit batter of the season, his career total is 38 hit batters. I don’t know why he wasn’t taken out of the game. He blamed it on his ‘cut fastball’, batters don’t know its going to cut in so they don’t get out of the way. Here’s a thought, don’t throw the ball at their knees!

On another note, my streak is intact, what streak is that you ask? Every game I’ve gone to that was Yankees vs. Boston, Boston has won. **hangs head** ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Garcia got hit hard first inning, Ellsbury hit a home run, and Garcia was pulled in the second inning. He was disappointed that he was pulled so early. Ayala came in for 1 and a third inning. Then Noesi the hero of the extra innings Baltimore game came in for the last 6 innings. He also got hit, this time by Ortiz with one man on. I don’t really hate Ortiz, like I hate some other Red Sox, I would just like to reach out and slap that fat, ugly, smug, bastard in his fat face. Just for being smug.

Jorge came in for Mark, pitch ran then played first. He did alright, got 3 hits (breaking his hitless streak against lefties {take that Jon Lester}), he must hate Jon Lester too.

Yankees came back, but not enough. I stayed to the end, watched Puppybone strike out Alex and do his fist pump. BOO! Red Sox may have won, but they are still ugly. Sorry that’s all I got.

Beat the Mets, Yankees beat the Mets

~~ Yankees 9, Mets 3~~

In yesterdayโ€™s post I forgot something, not really surprising, I tend to forget something every time, usually I remember too long after to mention and then I get annoyed. Jose Reyes got booed every time he came up to bat. Booing loud enough to drown out the cheers from the Mets fans. Today when I mentioned it to Kasey, she said there is usually one evil player on each team. Jose Reyes on the Mets, Jose Bautista on the Blue Jays, Josh Beckett or Ellsbury or Adrian Gonzalez or Jed Lowrie or Dustin Pedroia or Youkilis of the RedSox, most of those guys cause they are ugly.

So the Mets were ahead until the 7th inning, they were probably already chilling the champagne for the celebration, wait, this isnโ€™t the World Series! Then as David Cone said, โ€œThey had all zeros, till the seventh inning and now the Yankees have a snow cone (8). For all of you saying the Yankees are hitting too many home runs, the only home run hit in this game was in the first inning. The 8 runs in the seventh were base hits. A walk, a hit by pitch, a dribbler across the infield. Alex said, I was more lucky than good. A bunt that was bungled, a blooper that fell between the players, everybody got a turn to play, fun times in the Bronx.

Nova pitched well, unfortunately he doesnโ€™t get the win since the Mets were ahead when he left the game. He got an ovation however and the Yankees did the win the game. And if the Yankees win the World Series, he will get a ring. Got to look at the big picture. Ayala gets the win, Lance Pendleton pitched the ninth inning.

It really bothers me that the Yankees are being greedy. Scoring all these runs so Mariano canโ€™t get anymore saves on his record. Greedy little buggers. Attendance tonight was 48,293.
