My first game of 2015

And it was a doozy! 19 innings, 6:49 time. Rather brutal for the time and the temp, it was hella cold. Also my phone died and I got a little crazy on twitter which means I have to reinstall my ‘no twitter during baseball games’ policy. That means more blog posts.

~~ Red Sox 6, Yankees 5 ~~

Every April, as I am freezing in stands I say, I am never going to an April game again. In fact this year I didn’t even look at the prices of opening day tickets, but then I downloaded this app “Seat Geek” and noticed Yankees vs Boston, tickets available! So I bought a ticket. Then I told my boss and he bought a ticket too, (DAMMIT) so then I bought a ticket for Saturday so I would have a game without him. Turned out to be unnecessary since he decided the weather was too crummy and he was getting a cold so he didn’t go.

So there I was feeling like a jerk after getting scolded and my phone dying and the Red Sox up by a run. The rest of this post is compiled from my notes, scribbled on my ticket and my memories. I was not happy the Sox were winning, but I was so cold and I wanted to go home, and Headley hits a home run. I was elated “Headley hits a home run! Yay oh wait its the ninth inning and he just tied it up. Extra innings on a cold Friday night” then I wasn’t. I tied my blanket around my neck and wore it like a cape.

The score was now 3-3, I had already moved and where I was now sitting I could hear someone cheering the Red Sox vigorously and booing the Yankees, in particular Alex “STEROIDS STEROIDS”, I eventually looked at him, older man wearing a Mets hat. Huh. And say all you want about apathetic Yankee fans, the boos for David Ortiz never diminished no matter how many at bats he had. The score stayed tied until the 16th inning.

By this time I was walking around, I was standing behind the seats so I saw David Ortiz -steroids- hit a go ahead home run. I left the seats and went into the great hall. “It’s over now.” I watched the bottom of the 16th on the big screen in great hall, that’s where I saw Mark Teixeira hit a home run to tie the game, again.

This whole time I kept saying I’m going to leave … first it was, midnight, then … at the end of this inning. The 18th inning the Red Sox scored another run, and the Yankees tied again. Finally in the 19th the Red Sox scored and the Yankees didn’t tie it up. I saw a tweet that Pedroia threatened to fine anyone that talked to the media.

Next year, no April games. Promise. Maybe.

Another double-header because of the stupid freaking rain!

~~ Yankees 6, Red Sox 2 ~~

The pitchers for the first game of this double-header are Wakefield for the Red Sox and A.J. Burnett for NYY. Someone shoot me now.

Gardner and Jeter bunted, both came around to score. Then in the third inning Jorge hits a two run home run, 4-0 Yankees. And the Rays are leading in their game. Since this won’t be posted until after the game and no one is here to read it, “Please don’t melt down, implode, fall apart, or anything else. OK AJ? Please hold it together for your devoted fan (I might be the only one left).”

Oh Captain! My captain. And no, I don’t think he did touch home plate. Until he reached back and tagged AFTER he was called safe. I almost feel sorry for Tim Wakefield, almost.

Hate Ellsbury, all three hits have come off Ellsbury. If it wasn’t for him AJ would have a no-hitter. I will hate him more if he’s gets MVP instead of a Yankee.

And with that hit Derek is now hitting 300 and the Yankees lead 6-2.

Guess Big Sloppy was tired of walking. AJ doesn’t usually melt down this late in the game does he? OH NICE PLAY! Good fielding by Laird and AJ, 3-6-1 double-play.

AJ pitched into the 8th, D-Rob came in to pitch to Ellsbury, who hit two home runs off AJ, and struck him out. Then D-Rob pitched a scoreless ninth saving Mo and Soriano for tonight’s game if needed.

Umpires and Red Sox: Who do I hate more? ~ June 9

~~ Red Sox 8, Yankees 3 ~~

After a 3 hour and 27 minute rain delay the game started. Sabathia versus Beckett. Another pitcher that likes to hit Yankee batters. He hit Jeter, then he hit Alex (in the hip!). Then a half inning later, CC hits Ortiz.

Here is why I hate umpires, nothing was said to any of the Red Sox pitchers, in any of these games. CC hits Ortiz and the umpire is right out there, warning the benches. Then Beckett hit Granderson, after the warning. Did anything happen to Beckett? Was he thrown out? NO. That’s because Umpires have complete control, they are the little GODS on the field and there is no accountability. They don’t get fined for bad calls, they don’t get fired, NOTHING.

CC pitched good, then in the seventh the Red Sox got 7 runs. I am sitting here just waiting for this game to end. It has been a rather disheartening day, Joba has a torn medial collateral ligament in his right elbow making Tommy John surgery and a 10- to 14-month absence imminent. Possibly out for the year, and just when I was starting to like him. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Phil Hughes has reportedly been throwing at 92 MPH, but he will have to go to a rehab assignment before he can come back and pitch. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Russell Martin’s back is still bothering him, but an MRI showed no damage. Still he has missed two games. I’m blaming Jon Lester for hitting him with a pitch, that started it all. I can do that, this is my blog.

Red Sox are still ugly.

Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees ~ Wednesday, June 8, 2011

~~ Red Sox 11, Yankees 6 ~~

Boston continues to hit the Yankees hard, even their pitchers. Yes Tim Wakefield hit Robinson Cano. He is a knuckleball thrower and Derek said, he doesn’t think even Wakefield knows where the ball is going. He gave up 5 runs, and the reliever Aceves, who used to pitch for the Yankees gave up one. You would think that six runs for the Yankees would be enough. Except that A.J. gave up 8 runs, 7 earned and if that was enough, Lance Pendleton gave up another 3. Rough night for us Yankee fans.

The commentary on this is short because I didn’t watch the game. I was at church and when I got home and saw the score I just kept track on my computer. It is less painful that way.

So once again the Red Sox have won the series with Ortiz, Crawford and Drew each hitting home runs. I heard Ortiz didn’t do his bat flip, not that I care. I am just don’t want another sweep.

Boston versus New York ~ Tuesday, June 7, 2011

~~ Red Sox 6, Yankees 4 ~~

Words cannot describe how much I despise Jon Lester, I know since he is a Red Sox pitcher it goes without saying that I don’t like him, but my feelings go beyond that, I hate, loathe and despise him. Jon Lester is a thug, a bully, a jerk and ugly. Now that I’ve unburdened myself, he hit Mark on the knee (could have broken his kneecap!) in the first inning, putting him out of the game. In the same inning he hit Russell Martin. His ninth hit batter of the season, his career total is 38 hit batters. I don’t know why he wasn’t taken out of the game. He blamed it on his ‘cut fastball’, batters don’t know its going to cut in so they don’t get out of the way. Here’s a thought, don’t throw the ball at their knees!

On another note, my streak is intact, what streak is that you ask? Every game I’ve gone to that was Yankees vs. Boston, Boston has won. **hangs head** ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Garcia got hit hard first inning, Ellsbury hit a home run, and Garcia was pulled in the second inning. He was disappointed that he was pulled so early. Ayala came in for 1 and a third inning. Then Noesi the hero of the extra innings Baltimore game came in for the last 6 innings. He also got hit, this time by Ortiz with one man on. I don’t really hate Ortiz, like I hate some other Red Sox, I would just like to reach out and slap that fat, ugly, smug, bastard in his fat face. Just for being smug.

Jorge came in for Mark, pitch ran then played first. He did alright, got 3 hits (breaking his hitless streak against lefties {take that Jon Lester}), he must hate Jon Lester too.

Yankees came back, but not enough. I stayed to the end, watched Puppybone strike out Alex and do his fist pump. BOO! Red Sox may have won, but they are still ugly. Sorry that’s all I got.
