It’s déjà vu all over again

~~ Orioles 5, Yankees 4 ~~

Yes they lost to the Orioles, in extra innings by one run, again! In case you have been living under a rock, this was a make up game, due partly to Hurricane Irene and partly to the fact the Buck Showalter is a (insert word not used in this blog here). I don’t have any facts to back it up, but I think he was just trying to stick it to the Yankees. One of my reasons for thinking that is the comments he made in the press. But enough of that. If you read the comments on MLB.com you would think this is all Joe’s fault because he is the WORST MANAGER in the history of baseball. Yeah think on that a minute.

There are two things (maybe three) that save this from being a disaster in my mind, Nova did not take the loss, (some new guy by the name of Scott Proctor {shhhh don’t tell me} took it and Soriano got a blown save {that’s a bonus, it validates my dislike of him}), the score between the Red Sox and Blue Jays was 7-4, Blue Jays (last night their bull pen imploded, no idea what happened today) and since the Orioles have nothing to lose, they are playing aggressively. We’ve seen it before.

Next the Yankees play the Angels, this worries be because they have to travel with no off day. Maybe Swisher will share his Red Bull.

Rain, Rain, GO AWAY!

~~ Yankees 5, Orioles 3 ~~

There was a four hour rain delay, can you believe it? All the Yankee fans (ok, me and one other, maybe two) are blaming Buck. When you think about it, if the Orioles had agreed to the double-header on that Friday, Yankees would still have a day to play a make-up game and wouldn’t have had to play yesterday. It is what is, can’t change it now. So the delay was longer then the game. I went to bed, couldn’t take it anymore.

Phil Hughes gave up 2 runs in six innings. Not great, not terrible and Logan gave up the other run. The rest of the bull pen kept the Orioles to three runs and Mo picked up save number 39.

Posada, Cervelli and Gardner each hit home runs. That Cervelli is proving all the haters wrong! What a little firebrand.

The rain helped and hindered both teams. In the end, Yankees win.

Don’t mess with the pinstripes, especially don’t hit Cano

~~Yankees 13, Orioles 2~~

This game was only 9 innings thank goodness, and the Yankees broke out in the first inning with 5 runs, then 4 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth, 1 in the sixth and 2 in the ninth. The final numbers were 13 runs, 14 hits and 2 errors. So not too many men left on base this game. It was one of those games where it’s easier to say who didn’t get a hit rather then who did. Let me run it down for you. Alex Rodriguez and Andruw Jones, who came in to PH for Alex in the 8th.

In the first inning Robinson Cano got hit by a pitch, so in the bottom of the first, 2 outs no one on base, Markakis got drilled in the back, by CC. Message sent and received. Cano’s hit lead to 3 more runs for the Yankees. Makakis hit got him on base, a single got him to third, then nothing.

Granderson, Gardner, Jeter and Posada each got an RBI, Nunez got 2 (off a home run in the 9th (by this point I was really feeling sorry for the O’s, I was also afraid Buck’s head would explode) Teixeira with 3 (2 from a home run in the 4th). This makes 10 for Mark and $150 for his charity.

CC pitched 8 shut out innings, then Amaury Sanit came in the ninth and proceeded to give up 2 runs. Which immediately started the Girardi is an idiot tweets, “Should have left CC in! He was dealing!” I’m not one who sees any value in a complete game. It was a shutout, not a no-hitter or perfect game. Yankees were up 13 runs at this point. So he gave up a couple runs, big deal, Jeter and Gardner made the last two outs.

There were a bunch of changes made late in the game, I guess because of how long the game last night was. Andruw Jones pinch hit for Alex Rodriguez, then he went to play in left field. Nunez replaced Curtis, then went to play third base. Brett Gardner moved to center field, Cervelli came in and Robinson left, (he got hit in the knee) then caught the last inning. Russell Martin went to third base (where he got an error, I forgive him, he’s not used to that position) Nunez moved to second base.

Next the Yankees met the Mets, I hope they get the sleep they need and “BEAT THE METS”. I am thinking about getting a shirt that says just that. I took 3 Aleve, I should sleep good tonight.
