~~ Yankees 11, Indians 7 ~~

This past week I had a terrible nightmare, I dreamed the Sox swept the Yankees, wait …. The Red Sox are now ahead of the Yankees, in first place. Do I need any other reason to hate them? Oh yes, their pitchers like using our hitters for TARGET PRACTICE!!

Apparently, some other teams (cough cough) seem to think they can get in on the fun. Granderson hits a home run in the 2nd inning and the next pitch hits Mark in the upper back. He jumps up and yells at the pitcher, Joe runs out and then everyone runs on the field. No pitches were swung, but things were tense.

The box score says Orlando Cabrera got ejected in the 8th, I don’t know why, but it was by the home plate umpire, so probably arguing strikes and balls.

Mark, Brett, Derek and Curtis all stole bases this game. Things got a little away from the Yankees after Ivan left the game. He only gave up 2 runs. The rest were by the bullpen. Rivera came in to close the game out.

Yankees win.

Don’t mess with the pinstripes, especially don’t hit Cano

~~Yankees 13, Orioles 2~~

This game was only 9 innings thank goodness, and the Yankees broke out in the first inning with 5 runs, then 4 in the fourth, 1 in the fifth, 1 in the sixth and 2 in the ninth. The final numbers were 13 runs, 14 hits and 2 errors. So not too many men left on base this game. It was one of those games where it’s easier to say who didn’t get a hit rather then who did. Let me run it down for you. Alex Rodriguez and Andruw Jones, who came in to PH for Alex in the 8th.

In the first inning Robinson Cano got hit by a pitch, so in the bottom of the first, 2 outs no one on base, Markakis got drilled in the back, by CC. Message sent and received. Cano’s hit lead to 3 more runs for the Yankees. Makakis hit got him on base, a single got him to third, then nothing.

Granderson, Gardner, Jeter and Posada each got an RBI, Nunez got 2 (off a home run in the 9th (by this point I was really feeling sorry for the O’s, I was also afraid Buck’s head would explode) Teixeira with 3 (2 from a home run in the 4th). This makes 10 for Mark and $150 for his charity.

CC pitched 8 shut out innings, then Amaury Sanit came in the ninth and proceeded to give up 2 runs. Which immediately started the Girardi is an idiot tweets, “Should have left CC in! He was dealing!” I’m not one who sees any value in a complete game. It was a shutout, not a no-hitter or perfect game. Yankees were up 13 runs at this point. So he gave up a couple runs, big deal, Jeter and Gardner made the last two outs.

There were a bunch of changes made late in the game, I guess because of how long the game last night was. Andruw Jones pinch hit for Alex Rodriguez, then he went to play in left field. Nunez replaced Curtis, then went to play third base. Brett Gardner moved to center field, Cervelli came in and Robinson left, (he got hit in the knee) then caught the last inning. Russell Martin went to third base (where he got an error, I forgive him, he’s not used to that position) Nunez moved to second base.

Next the Yankees met the Mets, I hope they get the sleep they need and “BEAT THE METS”. I am thinking about getting a shirt that says just that. I took 3 Aleve, I should sleep good tonight.

The streak is broken ~ happy dancing ~ May 17

This past weekend, I had a terrible nightmare. I dreamed the Yankees were swept by the Red Sox. Shhhhhh.

Did I not say that the Yankees would not lose forever? Tonight when they got the lead they held on to it. In what some are saying is an encouraging sign, they scored runs in the later innings. I admit it was frustrating to see them score 3 or 4 runs in the first or second, then none later in the game. That is what happened in the first game of the series, 2 runs in the second and 3 in the fifth, then when the Rays went ahead, they weren’t able to score any more, despite having opportunities. Tonight the Yankees kept scoring runs, even into the 9th inning. Last nights game was a debacle, but it is history now. Onward and upward Yanks, no looking back.

~~Yankees 6, Rays 2~~

Nova gave up one run, a home run, in the 3rd inning. He kept going, held the Rays to one run. He pitched 5-โ…“ inning and picked up his 4th win. Robertson and Chamberlain each pitched 1-โ…“ innings, giving up no runs, Sanit pitched โ…” of the ninth inning, after giving up a run, Mo came in to finish the game. Since the Yankees were up 4 runs by this point, not considered a save situation. That greedy offense, scoring 2 runs in the ninth so Mariano wouldn’t get a save.

Alex hit two home runs (they come in bunches!), the first tied the game, the second put the Yankees ahead. And then they did that thing they do, tacking on insurance runs. 2 in the 7th, then 2 in the 9th. And Jorge? Jorge got 2 hits. Yay Sado. He didn’t get the run, only because Nunez pinch ran for him.

Swisher had a fever, he was replaced in right field by Chris Dickerson, just called up from Scranton, he also batted in a runner. So after a couple of miserable, WTF? games, this game was a joy to watch.

No fireworks tonight

~~Royals 11, Yankees 5~~

Last night the Yankees got 12 hits and only 3 runs, tonight it was a little more balanced, 8 hits and 5 runs, however the Royals got 16 hits and 11 runs. This was the first series the Royals have won in the Bronx since 1999.

Ivan Nova gave up 8 runs, I was wondering why his ERA was not that much higher, then I saw that there were only 4 earned runs. Royals scored 4 runs on the 2 errors the Yankees committed. He was lifted after 3 innings, after the game you could see he felt bad, “I didn’t do my job.” He has a good attitude, gotta put it behind you and keep going, he said when a batter would get a hit, he said to himself, ‘O.K., lets get the next batter out.” Amaury Sanit, just up from Triple A pitched 4.2 innings and gave up 3 runs, not bad for his major league debut. Buddy Carlyle closed out the game but the Yankees still couldn’t get the runs.

Robinson Cano is back after being hit in the helmet last night, he is fine, even hit a home run.

Alex Rodriguez hit a home run, his home runs usually come in bunches. I hope so cause the RedSox are next.

The injury to Chavez’ foot doesn’t appear to be a broken bone and he is out of the boot. He says day to day but according to the injury update he is still listed as 15 day D.L.

Saturday Kasey and I will be at the game, I am so excited!

Let’s Go Yankees!!
