Los Angeles Angels at NY ~ Tuesday, August 9, 2011

~~ Angels 6, Yankees 4 ~~

Going into the ninth inning the game was tied and then, two runs off of Mo, AGAIN!! He’s got to stop this. It is wearing on my nerves. If he doesn’t his ERA might get up to 3. Wouldn’t that be a shame?

AJ gives up 4 runs, and people are saying, “Well except for the 6th inning he pitched good.” But you have to count that sixth inning, because it counts!

Winning in spite of ….

~~ Yankees 18, White Sox 7 ~~

No I won’t go there, I have always defended A.J., always looked for the good, and this is how he repays me! 13 run lead and he went from being a pitcher, to throwing batting practice. I saw this before, with the Blue Jays, that time there wasn’t a lead to give up and the Yankees lost, this time, Joe pulled him after 4.1 innings and put in Cory Wade. AJ was mad, didn’t wait for Joe, walked off the mound and pulled his jersey off as he went into the tunnel. Cory got the win, Ayala and Soriano pitched scoreless. So much for blaming A.J. previous loses on no run support. He could not complain about no run support here! This just makes me mad, and I don’t like to get mad at any of the Yankees. Especially one I defended in the past.

Just the Orioles ~ Friday, July 29, 2011

~~ Orioles 4, Yankees 2 ~~

beating the Yankees 4 to 2. I know I am seriously behind here, besides moving I got sick. I am determined to not move from this couch until this blog is up to date. I should probably go pee before I start typing …

Despite Teixeira hitting a home run, it was a solo shot, and A.J. pitching 8 solid innings, the Yankees lost this game. Tomorrow is a double header. I was planning on going but my furniture is being delivered to the new apartment. Perhaps I should say, it was delivered, but my T.V. was working, cable was hooked up so I watched it, but I am getting ahead of myself.

Run limits ~ Saturday, July 23, 2011

~~ Athletics 4, Yankees 3 ~~

Each team in the MLB has a set number of runs they are allowed to score in a series. The amount varies to some degree but it applies to each team. I don’t know the exact number, but I do know these limits exist.

When the Yankees scored 17 runs the other night they got a call from Bud reminding them that if they went over their run limit there would be repercussions. Because of that coming into this game the Yankees were afraid to hit the ball. Oakland on the other hand was nowhere near their run limit so they could pound away at the ball. These run limits are the reason Oakland was able to break their 11 game losing streak against the Yankees and why Josh Willingham and Hideki Matsui weren’t afraid to hit homers.

Some of you may be thinking you’ve never heard of ‘run limits’, didn’t you see how Nick Swisher was scolded after he homered? Trust me, they exist.

If they don’t then it means that the Yankees don’t like AJ and that is just not true. I think.

Another win, for D-Rob ~ Monday, July 18, 2011

~~ Yankees 5, Rays 4 ~~

I can’t remember the last time I watched a whole game. Either because I got home late or had something to do, or had to go upstairs and got aggravated with my friend. Today didn’t break my streak but I don’t remember now why. So I followed on Twitter and MLB at bat 11.

A.J. struggled tonight, he managed to keep the Rays to 4 runs, but he walked 6. That’s more than he struck out. Fortunately, he stopped giving up runs at 4 and our relievers Noesi and Robertson (High socks got it done!) kept them at 4 runs. And Mo got save number 24, after the Rays pitcher walked Martin to bring in the winning run.

Pena awoke Monday morning — the day he turned 26 — with severe stomach pains and was taken to the hospital. The result was appendicitis, which prompted doctors to remove his appendix and forced Pena to go on the disabled list prior to the start of a four-game series against the Rays at Tropicana Field.

Perfection

~~ Yankees 5, Rays 4 ~~

It was the perfect day for a ball game. At his first at bat Derek got career hit 2,999, his second at-bat was career hit 3,000, a home run. Derek went 5-5 making his performance for the day perfect, the fan who caught the ball returned it to Derek because, “It was his moment, his accomplishment. I didn’t want to take anything away from him today.” He got to meet Derek and got some nice gifts from the Yankees. David Price got stung. Overall, the Rays players were polite and clapped at his accomplishment. The first baseman even lifted his cap as Derek ran by. Then he concentrated on winning the game. Which wasn’t easy. But there again he was perfect, bringing in the winning run with his 5th hit of the game. Perfection.

A.J. gave up 3 runs. Pitched 5.2 innings, then Logan came in, A.J. left the game with the Yankees in the lead, and Logan did his job and the Yankees were still ahead the top of the 8th, then D-Rob comes in and blows the lead, lets the Rays score a run. So A.J. loses the win, David Robertson blows the save, but because the Yankees scored the winning run in the bottom of the 8th, he gets the win! Sometimes I don’t understand baseball, and David Robertson in a bum (not really, love the little cutie pie, just wish he would come in and just get the outs, no fooling around and letting Johnny Damon get a triple). Mariano picks up save number 22.

In between at bats, we were being entertained by the most adorable little 18 month old in front of us. He was having a great time hanging out with his family, eating chicken and fries, offering it to people, after he took a bite. Kasey was watching him and said: “He’s well behaved, social and speaks. He doesn’t need services!” I thought about bringing him home, but his family was watching just a little to closely.

It’s not my fault, I think ~ Monday, July 4, 2011

Today I walked across the Hudson River, yes really, check it out: Walkway across the Hudson which left me with a monster headache. So I can’t really blame my headache on this lose. The title is rather tongue in cheek since as expected, whenever the Yankees lose, it HAS to be someone’s fault.

A.J. of course put the blame on him, even when reminded about the missed pop-up, he said, “No, it’s all on me.” And he pitched well, just not well enough. And Girardi was trying to save the bullpen, with some pitchers not available after the series with the Mets, and Mo has a sore elbow, so he pushed A.J. for a seventh inning. He was planning to use Dave Robertson in the ninth, but he ended up not being needed.

But why does it have to be anyone’s fault? Why can’t we say that on this particular day, this one game, the Indians played better baseball then the Yankees. So we just pick up and carry on from here. We are still in first place, the Jays trounced (sort of) the Red Sox and the Twins demolished the Rays. So there was some good news in baseball today.

~~ Indians 6, Yankees 3 ~~

Burnett’s numbers for the game were 7 innings pitched, 4 hits, 4 runs, 4 walks and 6 K’s. Wade pitched one inning and was responsible for the other 2 runs. Austin Kearns hit the 3 run home run off A.J. Yes that Austin Kearns, that played for the Yankees. This was his first home run of this season. I guess he’s been saving up for us. At least Santana, who hit the home run against Wade has 13 home runs for this season.

Granderson hit his 23rd home run, right after Em told him he needed to catch up. It was a solo shot, so not much help. The boys will be back in form tomorrow, CC takes the mound.

Mark Teixeira is not going to the All-Star game, nor is he participating in the Home Run Derby. And yes, him not being in the All-Star is part of the reason for declining the Home Run Derby. Not because he feels snubbed and now has hurt feelings. It’s a long trip and how often does he get 3 days with his family? Even when the team is playing at home, he has to go to the ball park every day. So he’s getting a mini vacation with his beautiful wife, who he’s stupid in love with, and his kids. Judging from his Facebook status, he likes playing with his kids. This paragraph is written in response to a stupid twitterer who was calling Teixeira a baby, way to be classy engaging in name calling someone who is definitely better then you.

Who sucks now? ~ Wednesday, June 29, 2011

~~ Yankees 5, Brewers 2 ~~

Not A.J. Burnett, and this time he managed to get the run support he needed. He also held the Brewers to 2 runs, like Freddy Garcia. Yankees only got 5 runs today, maybe this pitcher is better then Greinke. I think the boys are no longer anxious with A.J. on the mound and so are relaxing at bat and getting hits. That’s my theory anyway. David Robertson came in and did his thang, then Mo picked up his 21st save of the season.

Russell Martin hit a 3 run home run and Jorge hit a solo in the 6th. His ball bounced off the top of the wall, hit a fan and went back into the field. Stupid fans should back away from the wall when a home run ball is coming. After review, it was ruled a home run.

Tomorrow Kasey and I are going to the game. She gets two weekday game days in her package. After the game we are going to the fundraiser for “High Socks for Hope”. I am wearing my jersey, since I didn’t have a chance to get a ball, just in case I run into any of the guys.

AJ Burnett does not suck ~ Friday, June 24, 2011

~~ Rockies 4, Yankees 2 ~~

The Rockies beat the Yankees and since AJ was pitching everyone is jumping on the AJ sucks bandwagon. Well not everybody, more like everybody that doesn’t like him or was disappointed in his performance last year.

A.J. gave up 4 runs to the Rockies. Ubaldo Jimenez gave up 2. So who’s fault is the loss? Poor pitching or lousy offense? Like I’ve said before, if a pitcher doesn’t get run support, he can’t get the win. That seems to happen to A.J., a lot. And I don’t think its because the players ‘don’t like A.J.’ I really don’t know what it is. I’m just glad he is pitching better, and he is.

A little bit of run support ~ Saturday, June 18, 2011

~~ Yankees 4, Cubs 3 ~~

Just fooling around with the logo from the MLB site, don’t tell them.

So A.J. got a little bit of run support, this time it was enough. My buddy Russell stole a base, Nunez made another error, #8 for the year. Gardner threw the ball into home from left field and Russell tagged the runner out, even though the runner ran into him and knocked him down. Russell got up and showed him the ball. It was one of the three double plays the Yankees turned.

Ballgame over, Yankees win.
