~~Yankees 5, Athletics 0~~
My suggestion to the grounds crew was “Write on the mound ‘C.C.’s and Andy’s’ and in front of the visitors dugout write, ‘You thought it was hot playing in Oakland, wait till you try pitching in the Bronx.'” When Dallas Braden left with cramps from the heat, I kind of felt bad for saying that (o.k., not really) So, did anyone else see Alex in the dugout sticking pins in a doll? Yeah I thought I just imagined it. He was doing good, the only run was a home run by Posada, but even if he had stayed in and not given up any more runs, he would still have taken the loss.
This was because Sabathia had his best stuff indeed and shut out the A’s, allowing only 1 hit in 8 innings. Even Posada’s error didn’t hurt us, and I have to say I am impressed with how the bullpen is shaping up. Albaladejo pitched a scoreless and hitless 9th inning.
The A’s seemed to be playing better today, but picking off base runners doesn’t help when you have Granderson hitting home runs. He wasn’t even in the line up because of his problems with lefties (Braden is a left), but Swisher left in the 1st inning with knee pain, so Girardi put Curtis in. Two home runs and 3 rbi’s later, seems like a good idea.
There is no post about yesterday’s game, you can tell from the dancing broom that it was a win, A.J.’s 10th, a very close game. Most importantly, A.J. didn’t have a melt-down.
